Noninvasive Survey Uses the Latest Technologies

The Valley of the Khans Project is a noninvasive survey that uses the most advanced technologies to investigate one of the world’s greatest ancient mysteries. By locating archaeological sites in this sacred area, the team hopes to enable the conservation of this incredibly important landscape. The team is attempting to map out the rich cultural heritage of the region, while respecting the local traditions which prohibit the desecration of any tomb. The team will use advanced noninvasive imaging and surveying tools that can see underground without turning over a single stone.

A combination of space, aerial, and land remote-sensing tools are being applied to this effort. The size of this extensive region requires detailed analysis of satellite imagery–more than any single individual could handle. This is why we are crowdsourcing, asking you for help. Join us and be part of the biggest survey team the world has ever seen.
